Mandi Franklin, CPNP

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

MASKING IS CHILD ABUSE

False: There is strong evidence that masking works. An infected person can decrease the likelihood of spreading their germs by wearing a mask. The uninfected individual also benefits from mask-wearing.

CHILDREN DON'T GET COVID19 AND EVEN IF THEY DO, IT'S MILD

False: This makes me extremely sad. This surge is affecting children, unlike previous surges. The Delta variant is more transmissible and causing severe illness in kids. Pediatric ICUs are filling up across the country.

DAILY TEMP CHECKS ARE SUPER EFFECTIVE

False: Sure, this can help, but what about those asymptomatic?

VACCINES WORK!

True: The vaccine allows us to develop immunity to the virus without having to get sick. Iceland has vaccinated >70% of its population and there has not been a reported COVID19 death since May 25th.
