Newborn Rash: Erythema Toxicum Neonatorum

Mandi Franklin, CPNP

This rash sounds and looks much scarier than it is!

This rash can affect the face, trunk, and extremities and is usually diagnosed by physical exam.

Thankfully, this red and bumpy rash is benign and will resolve without treatment. It will typically go away within 1-2 weeks.

Of course, you should always discuss new onset rashes and concerns with your child's healthcare provider.
